There is a lightness to the world today. A heavy shroud lifted away yesterday. I was standing on a back aisle at Total Wine when I heard two women talking about looking for something special because they were celebrating. The stork clerk asked them what they were celebrating. One woman whispered, “They called the election. We’re celebrating the election.”
And like that, the world shifted. And while I know many will be unhappy, it is for me a simple thing. Hope. Hope and joy and possibility. It is openness and inclusion and welcoming. It is a desire for unity and sharing and collaboration. It is choice. It is freedom.
And I am happier. Lighter. I can breathe. I feel hope and see chance. The world opens back up like welcoming a loved one. A hug. An embrace.
