Today, a package of bees arrives in the mail, delivered by the United States Postal Service. Bees. a shoebox sized package with more than 7,000 live bees. These are not aggressive, Africanized bees but they are still LIVE BEES. It is enough to make any human pause. It’s a primitive reaction that is hard to suppress: the buzz of a swarm, the rattle of a snake, the bark of a dog. And yet, our country’s postal workers ship bees. Ever wonder what else they ship?
