Dr. King gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963. I look in the background of this photo and I see white faces. I see the sea of people who also marched on Washington for jobs and freedom. A living wage and worker representation. He believed in the Constitution. He claimed America for ALL men regardless of color, creed or religion. He spoke like a holy man, a prophet. I love this speech. Tomorrow we will all hear this speech (or segments of it) on the TV or radio. The speech in its entirety is moving, sobering and utterly inspiring. Is there a leader alive…..a man or woman of the cloth or the pulpit….with as much vision, passion and righteousness to demand justice? Where are the voices to lead the people and demand of our government that which is necessary and right.
