The honey crisp apples have arrived. Granted, a truly fresh apple straight off a tree or a roadside stand next to an orchard would be the best, but the giganto honey crisp apples that have arrived at The Fresh Market are phenomenal. I love this apple. I am usually a Gala, Fuji or Pink Lady fan, but the honeys are seasonal. I had four on the counter I bought last Wednesday and they had started to look dinged and faintly bruised. I was sure they would be mealy and dry. Wrong. I peeled away the skin and went a little deeper when I encountered a bruised area. And after tossing the slivers with cinnamon and a small amount of sugar, they got heaped into a Pillsbury pie crust for an impromptu apple galette. This counts are breakfast, right?
