I’ve got mail

What a gloriously lazy day! The house is all open, the wind chime audible in the light breeze. I found fresh tulips at The Fresh Market this morning when I went o buy my Honey Crisp apples. They are a lovely burnt orange color and offset the colors of Thanksgiving nicely. I am solo for the long holiday weekend and am relishing the idea of simply being home. I’ve got my fireplace ready if it turns colder. I have reading and listening to while away the time. I may mix and freeze dough for holiday cookies. I plan on baking an apple pie but beyond that, any semblance of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is optional. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because of all the cooking but unless I am setting a table for eight or more, it seems extravagant. I am excited about a recent purchase.

I unabashedly self-gifted the Garden & Gun Sideboard, an installment gift that ships specialty items from Southern vendors. I arrived home last night to a parcel left by the postal carrier and inside was a linen apron, three cotton dish towels with sassy phrases and a stack of cards with classic Southern appetizer recipes. When I place the order for the Sideboard, G&G sent me email to confirm my address for the delivery because I do not (yet) show up on the digital online directories. I assured them that I receive mail just fine, and my Sideboard box attests. I plan on making some pimento cheese spread this weekend to drink with cold beer while watching football. Amen!
