Pickled things

Happiness does not cost a thing. To be happy requires very little. In fact, a wealth of research has proven that happiness can be achieved or augmented in five simple ways:

  • Connect
  • Be Active
  • Take notice
  • Keep learning
  • Give

I want to be happier. I am on my way to a happier life. I find pleasure in simplicity and beauty. I appreciate my world, my surroundings. Today I did a few things for which I have hoped to make time. I started on a very special Christmas present for my oldest son. It will be a gift from both Evan and I. I can’t tell you what it is or show you pictures in the rare and unlikeliest of chances that Cameron reads the blog, but I promise to post them post Christmas. I also kept a promise I made to a farmer last Saturday. I returned to the Alachua County Farmers’ Market and bought his green grape tomatoes and made pickled green tomatoes. They are also called Tomolives. They looked fresh and bright and I hope they make a tasty and funky gift for my martini drinking friends.
